If you’re thinking of investing in a new BMW, read on to find out a little more about our 4 favourite models and what makes them special.
BMW M5 Competition
If this gorgeous sports car looks familiar, it should; to create this iconic vehicle, BMW took the shell of their popular 5-series sedan and kitted it out with an outrageously powerful 4.4 litre engine that produces a whopping 617 horsepower. If this wasn’t enough, the M5 Competition extends the engine power from the rear wheels to the front as well, delivering outstanding four-wheel drive while keeping that stylish chassis.
If speed is your vice, then you’re in luck! The M5 Competition can go from 0-60 in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it 3.1 seconds, lighting up the road behind you. In addition, it can continue accelerating and increasing speed to an eye-watering 190mph! That’s the speed of a high-performing sports car in a subtle sedan body. Despite this enviable speed, the interior remains traditionally BMW; the fine leather upholstery is complemented by more tech than you could dream of.
We love the BMW X1 because it delivers the best of both worlds; a high-powered yet smooth-running engine coupled with a sub-compact SUV frame. Just because you have children or dogs shouldn’t mean that you can’t live the life of luxury in your new BMW. Out of all the small SUVs available, the X1 is truly a stand-out choice and has been for 8 years since its release in 2013. Now that is admirable staying power.
While not as powerful as the M5 Competition, it outranks its contemporaries by nestling in the centre of the Venn diagram of luxury, performance and, perhaps most importantly, price, starting out at around £26,000. The 228 horsepower engine might not have you screeching along the motorway at a speed that would make Hamilton blush, but it’s certainly powerful enough to keep you and your loved ones on time.
When you need to make a long trip with more cargo than you think you need, the X1 can provide you with the desired comfort while storing all your possessions in its expansive boot, which caps off at around 59 cubic feet; meaning that this humble SUV can more than hold its own against its competitors.
The BMW 7-Series has held its position of power for more than a decade, standing tall against the flagship models of other brands, such as the Mercedes-Benz S class and the Jaguar XJ. Even staple classics that stand seemingly without competition, such as Bentley, struggle to compete against this elite symbol of class.
When you break the 7-Series down, it’s not hard to see why it stands out. The basic model boasts an incredible 335 horsepower engine, and that’s only the start! As you move along the list, the engine power only increases, allowing you to pick the engine that best suits your need for speed. If you decide on the 600 horsepower option, then you will leave all of the supercars in the dust as you reach 60mph in just 3.5 seconds!
As well as the functionality of the car, the 7-Series comes fully equipped with all the gadgets and gizmos you could dream of, including but not limited to in-car air fresheners, mood lighting and the ever-decadent built-in back massager in your seats. The crowning jewel, however, has to be the touchscreen display in the front, measuring in at a whopping 12 inches!
Our fourth and final entry is written from a place of absolute desire. The BMW M4 is the younger sibling of the ever-popular M3 and has been described as the rival of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe and the Audi RS 5.
A 3-litre, twin-turbocharged S58 engine will hit 503 horsepower and is available in both manual and automatic transmission. This engine is housed in a brand new chassis, the design of which has bristeled the hairs on a few necks but we think is gorgeous. And as if this wasn’t enough, the M4 comes with all-wheel drive. What more could you possibly want?
