The Audi is sharp, sophisticated and carries a subtle aura of professionalism that no other car can match. If you need any further convincing of just how special they are, remember this: Tony Stark drove one, and he was Iron Man. However, as with every other make of car, there are more models than you can shake a stick at, and trying to keep up with the latest release can be maddening.
There’s no need to panic though; we’ve collected our 4 favourite Audi’s and compiled them here, for your reading...and viewing...pleasure.
It’s probably a little unsurprising that the Q5 starts off our list; it’s Audi’s best-selling model and it’s not hard to see why. This compact SUV smacks of luxury while at the same time being roomy enough for you, your partner and screaming kids who are sick of I-spy. The boot has a whopping 520 litres of space, more than big enough for you to cram in three suitcases, and potentially an excitable dog.
The standard model comes with an admirable 2-litre I-4 turbocharged engine that produces 248 horsepower and an impressive 273 pound-feet of torque. An optional feature is the much sought-after 350 horsepower twin-turbo engine, giving you that extra boost you always knew you needed. Audi has also not skimped on the tech, including their parking system, smartphone interface and climate control.
Come on, let’s be honest; you knew this was going to be here, but the A4 is Audi’s most well-known model for a reason. Often considered ‘the’ Audi, the A4 was once ranked as the 2nd best compact luxury sedan.
The standard version has a 2 litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that runs as silently and smoothly as Santa coming through the chimney. The front-wheel model produces a respectable 188 horsepower, while the all-wheel model reaches 248 horsepower. If you’re feeling ambitious, the performance-tuned version produces up to 349 horsepower and an incredible 369 pound-feet of torque, due to its 3 litre turbocharged V6 engine.
In 2020, Audi released a reimagined design with a new exterior and an interior fitted with a state-of-the-art entertainment system.
This is how you design a car. Fans of the brand have been salivating over the R8 since the R8Le Mans prototype was released in 1999 and, by 2007, their calls had been answered. And oh boy, was it a success. (This is the model that Iron Man drives, by the way)
This supercar features 532 horsepower and can reach 60mph in a blisteringly fast 3 seconds, while at the same time handling like a dream and producing a sound that would make Mozart weep. In 2020, the R8 was granted an additional 30 horsepower to really give you the edge, but be warned; even a used model is likely to set you back a pretty penny.
And even if, EVEN IF the flawless handling, horsepower and speed aren’t enough to convince you, it’s easily one of the most aesthetically pleasing cars available.
At its heart, the Audi RS6 is a family car that will get you and your passengers from A to B safely, while boasting an outrageous 571 horsepower. While you may not need to test that horsepower, it’s nice to know that it’s there should you need it.
With a top speed of 155 mph and a 0-60 of 3.4 seconds (giving the R8 a run for its money), this is the soul of a supercar in the body of a luxury SUV. You and your family will be able to fit all of your holiday luggage inside the 565 litre boot, while keeping a little space free for the interesting rocks and sticks your kids will inevitably pick up.
